Zzzzz…shh, I'm sleeping…

Sleep: the mystical state of unconscious; the much needed autonomic ritual for every species rest and digest. There's not an animal in the world who doesn't sleep, and that includes hoomans. Have you ever wondered how much your cats sleep? Sometimes it seems as if they just sleep all day. They have not a care in the world, as we go through cycles of suffering, work stresses, relationships spats, internal and existential struggles of the soul. And all the while our cats are just drifted off to dreamland. It would be enough to make someone wrought with envy if it weren't for their absolutely adorableness that makes us look at them and just go, "awe."

Our cats are so wholesome and cute that we really do anything for them, even go through sleepless nights so they get their 4 am treat. They can keep us up with their midnight zoomies, their meowing in the night, or their demand for breakfast when you're just reaching REM. But we do it because we love them, despite how much we love and need sleep. If you're someone who's just a little sleep deprived, running on half battery because of a whiskered furball, we have just the collection of soft smol kittens in a slumber.

Not everyone is big into sleeping. Although culture these days tends to highlight that which is luxurious, lavish, human, and self-fulfilling, there are still those who actually don't need a lot of sleep. I'm definitely not one of those people, but my body woke me up at 5 am this morning anyway. I would love to blame it on my cat, but he's proven innocent. I woke up to him peacefully sleeping on the couch, and still gave him breakfast even though he didn't even beg for it. So enjoy these soft sleeping kitties and drift away with them, just like I wish I could drift away and go back to bed.

Our cats sleep so much, that it's no wonder they suddenly spontaneously wake up with midnight zoomies. It's easy to envy the life of a cat – their softness looks so comfortable to be covered in, their sense of peace and quiet when they want. I would love to be a sleeping kitty.
